About SMK TI Airlangga (English version)

SMK TI Airlangga or Airlangga Vocational High School of Information Technology was established in 2001 through a decree issued by Department of Education No. 4070/i26.2a/ppE/2001 with school identity number NSS Our school is owned and managed by Airlangga Foundation located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia and it is the first vocational high school with major in information technology in East Kalimantan. We are using standardized 2004 National Curriculum developed by the Department of Education in Jakarta (K 9-12 for vocational education). Based in this curriculum, information technology study is devided into several sub-studies. Three of them are available in Airlangga Vocational High School of Information Technology, they are:
» Multimedia (graphics design, web design and video editing)
» Software Programming
» Network Administration

The length of study is 3 years or 6 semesters with 1 semester is dedicated solely for industry work. The students should have junior high scool certificate in order to receive admission to our school. After graduation, the graduates can either go directly to labor market or continuing to higher education with any major related to information technology or computer.

» The Final 7 Indonesia Best Websites in Education category in the prestigeous Bubu Award Web Design Competition.

Up to the second semester of 2005/2006 academic year, there are 186 students enrolled in our school. They are distributed into 6 classrooms of the first, second and third grade. It is projected to grow to 250 students in 2006/2007 academic year. We currently have 23 instructors with 3 administration staffs and 3 management officers including the principal and 2 vice principals.

Updated: As of the academic year 2009/2010, the number of students increase to 450 as well as the number of teachers climbs to 38. We add up more computer laboratories to 2 application lab, 2 network lab, and 1 Internet lab.
